Crockpot Bone Broth

I love Thanksgiving a whole holiday set aside to be thankful and to spend time with family and friends. I love all of the food: the turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, stuffing... and I love the leftovers! I have a recipe to savor and get the most out of your turkey, don't throw those bones away they are about to become a rich healthy broth! (I use this same recipe for chickens!)

1) Get all the meat off of your roasted chicken or turkey than place the bones in your crockpot. (A turkey might require a larger crock pot)

2) Add 1 chopped onion

3)Add 3-4 Celery Stalks chopped

4) Add 2-3 Carrots chopped

5) Add 3-4 garlic cloves minced

6) Add 1 TBS of apple cider vinegar

7) Add Salt and Pepper (and any herbs you would like thyme, bay leaves, parsley...)

8) Cover with water (the bones should be totally submerged)

9) Set on low and let simmer overnight

10) In the morning turn it off and let it cool

11)Strain out the bones and veggies (a lot of times I just add the veggies back into the soup I am making)

12) Put it into mason jars or gallon bags once cooled and freeze or use it immediately and turn it into soup!

Now you have an easy super nutritious bone broth that is a wonderful immune booster, can help heal your gut, that is full of vitamins and minerals.

*I generally try to buy organic meat but I do this regardless because you will still get benefits from the non organic meat.

*Organic potato peels would be another good addition to add as they would give you added potassium.
