Fall in a cup

Every year beginning in September a most wonderful thing occurs, I stand in line the smell of roasting beans swirling around me. I make it up to the counter and say “Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte please!!” It’s here again, after a whole long year of waiting I can once again experience fall in a cup!

Warmth washes over me as I take the first sip, images of sharpened pencils, heavy wool, and soft book covers fill my mind. Brilliant hues of scarlet, orange and goldenrod dance before me, fall has come. I love this season with its crisp air, spicy scents and bold colors and for a moment as I take my next sip I’m carried away on blustery autumn winds.
