Our Victory

I spent last week intending to write and finding that I could not, because in light of the cross and the victory secured there everything else seemed 'strangely dim.' Instead my family spent the week reading through the gospel accounts of this last week from about 2000 years ago. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:14 "And if Christ be not risen then is our preaching vain, and your faith is vain also."

If Jesus did not die on the cross having lived the perfect life we were commanded to and did not (for the Bible says 'For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.' 2 Cor 5:21) , paying our price and than rising from the dead on the third day where would our victory be? We would still be living in our sin, slaves to it, with the penalty of death written over us. ('For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 6:23) It is the victory that Jesus secured on the cross that allows us to live without sin. "What shall we say than shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Romans 6:1-2.

This truth is the most amazing! This holiday we just celebrated tops them all, because through it we have victory in Jesus Christ, those who have confessed their sin,  believed on him, and call him Lord. It's a day to rejoice like no other. The only thing that will be better than this revelation is when our faith turns to sight and we meet him in the clouds!

This past week I was also blessed to take part in passover. Learning how each of the elements is a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ was so beautiful. God has hidden so many treasures in his word that we are blessed to be able to search out (Proverbs 25:2).
