Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has sprung, it's been the recitation in my mind. I don't know if I heard it somewhere recently and it was catchy or if it just came to mind as I began seeing tulips in the floral department at my grocery store. No matter where I picked it up, it's true spring is here!

The tulips sitting on my kitchen table.
This is a funny saying coming from someone who lives in Southeast Florida where it's green all year round. Generally I let the seasons pass with little notice, winter is a bit cooler I call it the day where I have to try and wear all my long sleeve shirts and scarves :) Just kidding we do have more than one day of cold; to this Floridian 60' is cold! Around fall we do have a few trees that change color the further north you drive the more evident they become. But spring always seems to slip by with little notice.

This year however it has sprung. And in keeping with the seasons my spirit has heard the call as well:  'My beloved spake and said unto me, Rise up my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; the fig tree putteth forth green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise my fair one, and come away." Song of Solomon 2:10-13

God gave us the seasons to show that just as seasons come and go on the earth so do seasons change in our life. Some are vibrant and full of life (summer), some are for rest (winter), some for pruning (fall), and some for new growth (spring). In Colorado I took such joy in seeing the first blades of grass pop up through the snow and hearing the first call of the birds back from a long winters trip. I knew life was coming back into bloom.

And here in Florida my eyes are a tune to the spring going on around me, there have even been trees blooming with brilliant yellow blooms that throughout the rest of the year just have leaves. And the tulips, I did not know I loved tulips until now as they tell me of spring.  My heart echoes spring and the voice of my beloved whispers to me winter has past. This is a season of coming away with him, this is a season of new growth!
