Two years on the 28th

Monday was the 28th; it has been two years since my husband took my dad out to dinner to ask him to court me with the intention of marrying me. Two years doesn't seem like much when you look at the span of time, but I can't believe two years has already passed. My husband and I agree it feels like we have always been together and can't begin to fathom what it would look like to not be.

Two years ago it was a Saturday and I woke up all full of nerves (I knew that my dad and Dustin were going to dinner). The day was full I went with some friends to pick out bridal shower gifts for another friend who was about to be married, than there was a cookout with our Fellowship where quite a few people questioned me on whether or not they knew who my dad was with. (Of course I did, they seemed almost as excited as me!) And then through a bit of phone confusion I found myself back at home waiting for my dad and Dustin to arrive. (They had had a different plan in mind, but like I said phone confusion.)

My little brother doing what all good brothers do,
questioning the guy interested in his sister.
This was the first time either one of us had allowed God to script the love story he had been waiting to write and because of that each part of it had the indention of his finger prints on it. It was the most amazing and beautiful thing we had ever experienced, allowing God to lead us. And he has blessed us for it. Our wedding was blessed, our marriage is blessed and the more we yield to him the sweeter our life has become.

In light of what I have tasted of the Lord allowing him control I echo what Song of Solomon says "I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem by the ores, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not nor awake my love, till he please." (Song of Solomon 3:5) I heard it once said love awakened before its time leads to lust and that is just a cheap, harmful imitation of what God has in store if you only wait. (And for those who have awakened what you should not have, my husband and I are a testament to God's redemption allow him to put you back to sleep until his perfect timing. For encouragement you can read something I wrote a few years ago Writing the Rest of it

A love that grows sweeter day by day is a love that has Jesus at the center.
On a somewhat funny note we went out to dinner with my parents a few months back stopping first at the new Bass Pro Shop in our area, I have to say that place is great among all the fishing, hunting, boating gear is a big fish aquarium that the coconut just loved! While checking this place out we  found a very cool history lesson on courting. I give you the Courting Candle:

And since were on the subject of courting a little video to make you smile this Wednesday. I have to say my sister nailed this job.
